Compressed air is a critical part of many industrial processes and activities. It’s easy to convey, can be used in wet or hazardous environments and is easy to repair. However when not used well it can be very inefficient.

All good energy managers know that for every unit of energy you put into a compressed air system you get around 25% out. That’s a lower energy conversion ratio than some motor cars. No wonder compressed air systems present such a good opportunity for heat recovery.

Approximately 5% to 12% of electrical energy supplied to the Australian industrial sector is consumed by compressed air systems. Energy savings of 10% to 50% are not unusual when upgrading, optimising or modifying compressed air systems.
