Key Outcomes

  • Reduction in running costs by over 70%

  • Reduction in carbon emissions by over 35%

Business Problem

Dreamworld’s sister park, WhiteWater World is one of Australia’s largest water park attractions. Located in
Queensland’s premier holiday destination of the Gold Coast, the park hosts over half a million guests each year. The efficient use of water represents one of WhiteWater World’s greatest challenges, as does heating their water-themed attractions throughout the year. The energy costs associated with heating areas such as their 2,685 square metre wave pool, are understandably astronomical. WhiteWater World were in need of a solution which could adequately heat their water park, while also reducing running costs and emissions.

Evo Energy’s Solution

In March 2017, Evo Energy commenced the installation of the largest heat pump system in Australia, with a cutting-edge system upgrade at the popular tourist theme park, WhiteWater World.

Co-located with the  Dreamworld site, the WhiteWater World water park now features ground breaking heat pump technology that delivers reliable, energy efficient water heating to hundreds of thousands of guests every year.

Evo Energy’s redesign heats over 30 slides, water-rides and pools to 26 degrees all year round, using 19 high-performance EvoHeat CS200-GEN2 heat pumps.

The 19 EvoHeat CS200-GEN2 heat pumps provide up to 3,610kW heating capacity, delivering unparalleled energy efficiencies that save WhiteWater World over 70 per cent on their running costs, compared to their existing gas boiler system.  The EvoHeat heat pump technology has also cut WhiteWater World’s carbon emissions by over 35 per cent.

The system upgrade now allows WhiteWater World to remotely control and monitor their water heating capabilities using the technology’s smart controller system.
